Job Description: The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level (clinical track) to serve as an Associate Medical Examiner for the District 8 Medical Examiner Office and be part of the Autopsy Pathology clinical service. The Medical Examiner office is housed at a stand-alone, state-of-the-art building in southwest Gainesville, located approximately 3 miles from UF Health Shands Hospital. The office serves seven counties and is responsible for approximately 700 death investigations annually. The Shands Hospital autopsy service covers inpatient, outpatient, and private medical autopsies.

Primary responsibilities include the conduct of medicolegal death investigations for the local jurisdiction. Activities will include all the usual components of performing medicolegal autopsies, consultation with law enforcement, attorneys, medical professionals; and providing deposition and trial testimony in judicial proceedings.ÿ Hospital and private autopsies are performed at Shands Hospital on a rotating schedule.ÿ Teaching of residents and fellows is a crucial component of the role and includes clinical teaching during forensic and medical autopsies and providing didactic education on an annual basis.ÿ Support for scholarly activity, broadly defined as contributions to the advancement of the field, is provided for medical school faculty.

Expected Salary: Salary and rank are negotiable, commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. degree, possess or be eligible for board certification in Forensic and Anatomic Pathology, and possess or be eligible for a state of Florida Medical

Preferred Qualifications: Scholarly study and investigation is expected.
